Children's Scholarship Fund (CSF) is a national scholarship program founded in 1998 by John Walton and Ted Forstmann with the mission of giving parents a choice in their children's education. CSF provides partial scholarships to low-income families to send their child to private school in grades K-8. In 1999, CSF sought programs such as STAR Sponsorship across the country to partner with them by providing a 1:1 matching scholarship opportunity. All funds raised and matched would be distributed to Tarrant County students who were selected for a scholarship. With their matching funds and administrative help, more than 700 children were drawn for scholarships in 1999, 2001 and 2003.

Currently CSF Fort Worth is not handing out new scholasrships, but applicants are placed on a waiting list. This waiting list holds close to 1400 students currently, and is added to almost daily.

Mission Statement:
Our mission is to provide financial assistance to primary and secondary school age children of Tarrant County whose parents want, but cannot afford, a private school education.

Vision Statement:
The Board of Trustees of STAR Sponsorship Program, Inc./Children's Scholarship Fund FW is dedicated to increasing educational options for children in Tarrant County whose parents do not have the financial means to provide the education best suited to their children's unique needs.

We believe the well being of the entire community is enhanced when children are given a quality education that allows them to achieve to their utmost ability. Therefore, we intend, wherever possible, to encourage partnerships with schools, parents, community organizations and concerned citizens supporting their children to achieve the American dream.

We accept no government funding. We are Tarrant County's only privately funded scholarship program.
